Aosta<\/strong>, with the name of\u00a0Augusta Pretoria<\/em><\/strong>, was founded in 25 B.C. within a rectangle perfectly bounded to the north by the mountain slope, to the east by the course of the Buthier and to the south by that of the Dora Baltea.
\nBecause of the importance of the Roman remains and testimonies, Aosta is still called the ‘Rome of the Alps’. The third castle in Chatillon is the Baron Gamba<\/strong>, also interesting because it is a regional centre of modern art: it offers an important exhibition of paintings, sculptures, installations and photographic collections, as well as a large English-style park surrounding it.<\/p>\n

The most important places will be Aosta, home of the famous “March\u00e9 Vert Noel” (Christmas Market); Chatillon; the evocative setting of the Gamba Castle with “Chateau Noel – Father Christmas’s Village”; and Saint-Vincent, an enchanting mountain pearl, an ideal place for Christmas shopping.<\/p>\n

From November to January, the\u00a0March\u00e9 Vert Noel<\/em>, one of the\u00a0best-loved Christmas markets in Northern Italy<\/strong>, will immerse you in a real Alpine village in the heart of the city of Aosta, in a unique atmosphere, against the splendid backdrop of the Roman Theatre in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n
